Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 August 2026

Melibri is a recipe app. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to get rid of it.

The short version. We store the recipes, photos and profile details you put in, so we can sync them across your devices and show them to the people you choose. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and there is no analytics or tracking software in the app. You can delete your account from Settings at any time.

Who we are

Melibri is operated by the developer of the Melibri app. For any privacy question, or to exercise any right described below, contact privacy@melibri.app.

What we collect

Account information

You sign in with Google. We receive your email address, your name and your Google profile picture. We never receive your Google password, and we do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google service.

Profile information

Whatever you choose to add: a username, a short bio, a profile photo, and your privacy settings (whether your profile is public, and whether you accept friend requests).

Content you create

Recipes, ingredients, instructions, personal notes, tags, cookbooks, recipe photos, grocery lists, and meal plans.

Preferences

Your dietary preferences and allergen settings, so the app can flag recipes that conflict with them.

Limited usage records

What we do not collect

There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no third-party tracker of any kind in the Melibri app. We do not collect your location, your contacts, your device identifiers for advertising, or your browsing activity. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

Why we use it

Who else processes your data

We use a small number of service providers. They process data on our instructions and for no purpose of their own.

Provider What it receives Why
Supabase All account data, recipes and photos Database, file storage and authentication
Google Sign-in details Google Sign-In authentication
Google (Gemini) Photos you submit to the AI scan feature Reading recipe text out of a photo
Sightengine Photos you upload Detecting inappropriate images
OpenAI Recipe text, usernames and cookbook names Detecting harmful text
Discord Moderation alerts (internal identifiers only) Notifying us of reports so we can review them

These providers operate internationally, so your information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States.

What other people can see

Melibri has social features, so some information is visible to others by design:

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete My Account.

One exception, so there are no surprises. When you share a recipe and another user saves it, they hold their own copy. Those copies remain in their cookbooks after your account is deleted, no longer attributed to you. We cannot remove a recipe from someone else's collection any more than we could unsend a recipe card you had handed to a friend.

If you would rather not use the in-app option, email privacy@melibri.app and we will process the deletion for you.

How long we keep things

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists, and delete it on the schedule above. Moderation records relating to content that violated our rules may be kept longer where we need them to enforce the Terms or to comply with the law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive it in a portable format. Most of these are available directly in the app: you can edit your profile and recipes at any time, export a full backup from Settings → Backup & Restore, and delete your account from Settings.

For anything not covered in the app, email privacy@melibri.app. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

Children

Melibri is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact privacy@melibri.app and we will delete it.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with our hosting provider under access controls that restrict each account to its own data. API keys for our service providers are held server-side and are never embedded in the app. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will give notice in the app before it takes effect.
